Cross Country

Practices have started for cross country but please feel free to join.  Please bring your completed athletic medical form.  We meet outside the Phys Ed office at 3pm on Tues., Wed. and Thurs.  
Dr. Frank J. Hayden offers individual sports in inter-school competition. In general, Grade 9's (born 2005) are Midget runners, 10's (born 2004) are Junior runners while Grades 11, 12 & returning 12's (born 2003, 2002, 2001) are Senior runners.  Distances are set by age group - Midget - 4km, Junior - 5km, Senior - 6km. 
 
Cross Country Athletes play their season in the Fall while Track & Field Athletes compete in the Spring.

Commitment: Two to three formal practices per week plus personal training, approx. three competitive meets, depending on scheduling
 
Requirements: Students are asked to bring proper running shoes and running attire, water bottle, along with a signed ATHLETIC FORM to the first practice. Practice information will be shared at the meeting mentioned above. 
 
Season: September and October
 
Practices:  The Hayden Cross Country team practices Monday to Thursday at 3:00 pm. Students are required to have attended 16 Team practices in order to run at GHAC. Students are also encouraged to run once on the weekend.
 
Students are expected to be on time and dressed appropriately for weather conditions. Students will not be allowed to run in anything other than proper running shoes.
